Vegan Cheese, a Guest Blog, and a New Job

March brought an end to 9 to 5, the Musical. A very fun project, but also very time consuming. I was so ready to have some down time, but what happened…life…well…my life, to be exact. People who know me say I always have to have a project, and perhaps they are right.

This month I had a few. In addition to the tedium of doing my taxes, which always takes me awhile, I organized the first ever MacMomma!

What is the MacMomma, you ask?

It is a vegan mac ‘n’ cheese cook off, modeled after VegWorcester’s MacDaddy. It was a smashing success! We had over 60 guests and 16 entries! And best of all, this was a fundraiser for the Asheville VegFest: A Celebration of Vegan Food & Drink, which will happen on September 2, 2018 in Pack Square, Asheville, NC (put on by the Asheville Vegan Society, of which I am a board member). Special thanks go to THE BLOCK off biltmore for donating their great space!

And more thanks go to all the AVS board and AVS members, who volunteered at the event. And a very big thank you goes to my friend, Victoria, who was visiting us from MA, and pitched right in. She not only cooked an entry dish, but also volunteered (voluntold—haha) with setup, check in and clean up. This will definitely be an annual event!

But wait. I forgot something. I also got a part-time job at the fabulous new restaurant called Garlik Vegan, in Horseshoe, NC. It is owned by friends of mine and I am now bartending for them several nights a week.

Did I mention that this gig started March 9th? And 9 to 5 ended on March 4th? And the MacMomma was March 17th? Such is my life…filled to the brim with all good things to do and be a part of.

On March 20th, I was the guest blogger on the Main Street Vegan Blog. I wrote about my partner, Kim’s start in the vegan tour and travel business. (Spoiler alert: I was the catalyst!) Read the blog here.

This past weekend was a beer & cheese event at Sanctuary Brewing to benefit Sweet Bear Rescue Farm and Brother Wolf Animal Sanctuary. I made this vegan cranberry cheese from Exceedingly Vegan, and it was gone when we left. Success!

I’d like to say that I will now be able to keep up writing this blog every week, but I live in the real world, and know that I won’t be able to do that. I am going to aim for once a month.
